California health care workers must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination; unvaccinated workers must get tested regularly

Tuesday, September 7, 2021 | Posted in GEHA Connection Dental Network News

Effective Monday, August 9, 2021, California will require all health care workers in the state to either show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or to be tested regularly. Dental offices and staff are included in the order, and dentist employers will have to provide proof of their staff being fully vaccinated. Those who are not full vaccinated will be subject to weekly COVID-19 testing and will be required to wear surgical masks at a minimum. The California Dental Association is working with state officials to clarify the requirements in dental practices, including how the COVID-19 testing will be conducted and who will pay for it. This action comes as the highly infectious delta variant causes a surge in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across California, particularly in communities with lower vaccination rates. The America Medical Association issued a joint statement along with several dozen major medical organizations, advocating that “all health care and long-term care employers require their workers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.” Source:
